Setting up a school newspaper offers endless rewards in terms of motivating pupils, improving literacy and IT levels while developing teamwork along with community and home-school links.
Working through a series of six half day or after schools workshops (over a half term period) I will explain the various roles involved in setting up a newspaper – which include everything from being a roving reporter to a photographer and a sub editor to an editor – and then overseeing your first edition.
It can also be viewed as a source of income for your school with scope for advertising and a cover price there to be explored.
As a former teacher I am amazed so few schools make use of this fantastic approach to learning.
